IOI Properties Bhd together with Rakan
Cop launched a Rakan Cop programme for Puchong district on March 10 in IOI Mall,
Puchong. The programme aimed at enhancing co-operation between the police and
the to fight crime. The ultimate aim is to create a safe township and friendly
neighbourhood for the community. IOI is the first corporation in Malaysia
initiating the Rakan Cop programme.
The programme was jointly launched by YB Dr Kow Cheong Wei, Kinrara
Assemblyman and SUPT Tuan Jaafar Bin Md Said, Deputy Police Chief IPD Subang
Jaya, accompanied by Dato’ David Tan, IOI Property Director. Among others who
present at the function were the MPSJ Councillors, Mr Wan Sun Keong, Mr Liew Yew
Fook, YB Dato’ Theng Book, Mr Awtar Singh and Mr Wong Hock Aun, Head of MCA,
Puchong.
Rakan Cop refers to friends of the police. Under the programme, the public
will be encouraged to be the “eyes” of the police and provide information on
crime to the Police’s Command Central Centre through the hotline or SMS.
Safety and security of the residents has always been a top priority agenda
for townships and communities everywhere. IOI Properties initiating the Rakan
Cop’s programme as part of the crime prevention and safety awareness campaign
for the community. Mini hoarding boards bearing information on Rakan Cop and
with the police station’s hotline numbers have been put up at various strategic
locations in Puchong. Posters, car stickers and leaflets are being printed and
distributed to the public, to educate them on the important of working with the
cop to combat crime and play a more active role in ensuring the security of
their own housing area.
To further raise the public awareness on safety, IOI Properties also putting
up relevant information on anti-crime and crime prevention on its community
website (www.myioi.com) and created a link to Rakan Cop website.
A talk on “Gated and Guided Community”, presented by Encik Ismail bin
Mohamad, Subang Jaya Municipal Council Town Planning Department Director, a
demonstration on self-defense and live band performance by the police were part
of the event. A counter has also been set up at IOI Mall to help the public
register as Rakan Cop’s members.
